Congratulations to the Finalists of the 2021 MAV Technology Awards for Excellence

Ten Victorian councils are finalists in one or more categories in the 2021 MAV Technology Awards for Excellence. The annual awards recognise how councils are transforming and serving communities in the digital era.

Among the councils nominated are Hobsons Bay City Council, a finalist in the Customer Experience achievement of the year and the Strategy and Planning categories, and Brimbank City Council has two programs announced as finalists in the Collaboration or Partnership category.

MAV President, Cr David Clark, said the award finalists reflect the terrific work across Victorian councils to enable a cultural and technology shift.

“Across the sector, especially in response to the COVID 19 pandemic, Councils have embraced digital solutions as a way to maintain high levels of community service in difficult circumstances,” Cr Clark said.

“These awards are an excellent opportunity to share key learnings, as well as congratulate those involved for their innovative thinking and cross-organisational collaboration to move these digital projects from conception to implementation.”

Other Victorian councils in the running are: City of Boroondara, City of Casey, City of Greater Geelong, Cardinia Shire Council, City of Melbourne, Melton City Council, Alpine Shire Council and Yarriambiack Shire Council. The finalists will compete with councils from the Northern Territory, NSW and South Australia across five categories: Customer Experience, Collaboration or Partnership, Smart City, Strategy and Planning and Digital Leadership.

Finalists will also make a 15-minute online presentation of their entry in MAVTV sessions, which will be held from 10am on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 -22 April.

The winners in each category will be announced at the MAV’s Awards for Excellence Dinner on Thursday 29 April at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne, and winners will then be eligible for the Victorian and Australian Achievements of the Year. The awards dinner is part of the MAV Technology Champions of Change National Conference, which will be held on 27-29 April 2021 at Marvel Stadium.
