Local government to "Xperience the Evolution"

Publish date:

Councils are uniquely placed to bring people together by leveraging the best in technology and there’s no better place to learn what’s hot in the tech world than MAV Technology’s ‘Xperience The Evolution Conference and Awards’ in August.

This year, the Conference boasts an impressive array of high-profile speakers like Australian of the year Dylan Alcott, important tech founders Ronni Kahn (OzHarvest) and Lucinda Hartley (Neighbourlytics) and futurist Steve Sammartino.

The three-day extravaganza will explore the role of local government and technology and the impact councils can make on our communities as they switch to recovery mode post the COVID pandemic.

Topics to be covered will include emerging technologies, data ethics, data governance, customer and employee experience, cyber security, collaborative ways of working, access, equity and diversity.

Technology continues to bring about seismic cultural changes to all facets of our lives, and it is crucial councils not only understand what is happening, but embrace the many opportunities to improve their operations.

MAV Technology’s Chair, Justine Resta said the quality and range of the speakers on offer will make the conference a must see.

“The value in hearing from high-profile speakers like Dylan Alcott, Ronni Kahn and Geraldine Hickey speaks for itself, but the depth of information and range of expertise from Holly Ransom, Dr Amantha Imber, Lucinda Hartley and Steve Sammartino will ensure the content is engaging throughout.

“I’m also thrilled we’ll hear from a number of council officers – including case studies from Golden Plains Shire, City of Greater Geelong, City of Brimbank & Moorabool Shire – who will share real-world experience using technology to benefit their communities,” Ms Resta said.

MAV CEO Kerry Thompson said MAV Tech’s conference offered the sector the chance to celebrate the success of councils using technology to improve the way they operate.

“MAV Technology’s Xperience The Evolution Conference is not only an opportunity to learn more about how we can utilise technology, but it also provides the chance to celebrate the successful stories within the sector.

“The MAV has already held a number of successful in-person conferences this year and we’re looking forward to MAV Technology’s annual event exciting the sector again,” Ms Thompson said.

Xperience The Evolution Conference and Awards is at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 9 – 11.
