On-site domestic wastewater management
We have been working for a number of years to improve and raise the profile of domestic wastewater management in Victoria.
We also advocate on behalf of the sector for the provision of targeted capacity building programs and improvements to the regulatory framework.
Onsite domestic wastewater Land Capability Assessment Framework
In conjunction with EPA Victoria and the then Department of Environment and Primary Industries, we updated the model Land Capability Assessment Framework (Word - 1.1MB), which assesses a site’s suitability to support an onsite domestic wastewater system. The attachments in the framework are also available in Excel spreadsheet format:
- VLCAF irrigation area sizing spreadsheet (Excel - 42.0KB)
- VLCAF trench and bed sizing spreadsheet (Excel - 27.9KB)
Related research
In 2005, we developed the Model municipal domestic wastewater management plan (Word - 866KB) with assistance from EPA Victoria. It remains a highly relevant guide for councils developing their own domestic waste water management plans.
