Council survey results

Since 2020, the MAV and VicHealth have worked in partnership to deliver the Walking and Bike Riding Resource Hub. Now in the third phase of the project, the hub is designed to support councils get more people walking and bike riding more often.

The project has delivered ten webinars on a diverse range of topics including behaviour change, road safety, leadership and active travel to school. There has been a real focus on lifting council capability through a dedicated advice service and sharing case studies. While lack of funding and cost pressures continue to be identified by councils as key barriers to delivering walking and bike riding projects, benefits from strengthened relationships across government have also been reported.
